Magomedov Looks For Revenge Against Mix In Paris

Published

on

Bellator takes us to Paris for the Championship Series on Friday 17th May and is guaranteed to showcase some of the promotions most elite talent in some explosive matchups. One of those matchups being a bantamweight showdown between Patchy Mix & Magomed Magomedov.

Magomedov, holds a record of 20 wins and 3 losses and will be looking to avenge his last loss to Mix back in December 2022. Magomedov has shown that he can stand with the best, this is clear not only with the calibre of his opponents but also his impressive fighting record. Magomedov started his pro career on a 13 fight win streak taking his first loss the UFC Russian superstar Peter Yan, taking him to a decision which is no easy feat in itself.

With Magomedov’s experience and record you would think he sounds almost impossible to beat, however his opponent Patchy Mix bares his own formidable record. Not only did he beat Magomedov in their last fight he did it with complete style and domination where he managed to beat the ground specialist at his own game.

Patchy Mix with a record of 19-1 is coming off a six fight winning streak beating fighters such as Albert Morales and Sergio Pettis. Out of Mix’s last 19 wins 13 of them have been by way of submission, proving that his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is not to be overlooked or underestimated. Mix has never been KO’d or submitted in his 20 fight professional MMA career. This same fact is also true of his amateur career where he was undefeated with a record of 1.

If one thing is certain, this fight is guaranteed to be exciting and technical. Both fighters being ground specialists and wanting to prove who is the superior fighter, who has the best BJJ technique and who is more of an all rounded competitor.

With so many amazing fights going on within this card it would be a crime to miss out. Whether you’re a new fan who wants to see two top level guys fight it out or a fan of the technical artform that is BJJ/wrestling. This fight is set to be an all out war and has the potential to prove who is the better fighter or even the playing field for a trilogy fight. You won’t want to miss out!

SHOGUN RUA ENTERS THE UFC HALL OF FAME

Published

on

Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua will be joining the pioneer wing of the UFC’s Hall of Fame at the next induction ceremony during International Fight Week next month. The announcement came during UFC 301 in Rio De Janeiro last weekend to the delight of the many Brazilian fans in attendance.

Shogun’s mixed martial arts career spanned 21 years and 42 fights with the majority of his  success coming in Japan’s PRIDE promotion and then the UFC.

The highlight of his time fighting in PRIDE came when he beat a selection of legendary  names such as Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson, Antonio ‘Minotouro’ Nogueira, Alistair Overeem and Ricardo Arona to win a grand prix tournament.

He traded wins and losses throughout his UFC career after joining the promotion in 2007. He famously captured the UFC light heavyweight title by knocking out fellow Brazilian Lyoto Machida in the first round at UFC 113 back in 2010, before losing the belt in his first title defence against a young Jon Jones.

One his most memorable fights inside the octagon, a five-round war with Dan Henderson at UFC 139 back in 2011, was inducted into the hall of fame in 2018.

UFC president Dana White was full of praise for Shogun as he made the announcement, saying:

“Shogun Rua is one of the greatest Brazilian athletes in combat sports history. Shogun had  an incredible run in PRIDE and UFC and he was fearless inside the octagon. His fights  against Mark Coleman, Chuck Liddell, Lyoto Machida and Dan Henderson represent some of the most memorable moments in UFC history and helped put Brazilian MMA on the map. It will be an honour to induct him into the UFC Hall Of Fame this summer during International  Fight Week”.
